Animal Technical Rescue Awareness (2017) This course provides the knowledge and skills to prepare a firefighter to respond to an Animal Technical Rescue incident as a single incident accident or as a component of large scale disaster involving animals and human elements and to do so in a safe and effective manner while sharing jurisdictional and functional responsibility with AHJ.

Animal Technical Rescue Awareness (2021) This course provides the knowledge and skills to prepare an emergency responder to support an animal technical rescue incident at an awareness level in a safe and effective manner in accordance with AHJ policies and procedures. Topics include animal anatomy and physiology, handling and behavior principles, rescuer safety and approach, incident size up, and recognizing and isolating hazards to rescuers and animals. This course incorporates awareness training based on NFPA 1006 (2021).

Animal Technical Rescue Technician (2017) This course provides the knowledge and understanding of skills and resources necessary to respond to a ATR incident as a single incident, or as a component of large scale disaster involving large and small animal and human elements, and to do so in a safe and effective manner, with low impact on ongong emergency services operations.

This course also meets and exceeds NFPA 1670 Chapter 17.1 - 17.2 guidelines and covers the most likely animal species that first responders are called to rescue and manage: cattle (beef and dairy), horses, including working horses (police mounts, SAR), companion animals and working dogs (SAR, K-9).

Basic Pump Operations (1993) This course provides the student with the information and skills training for operating fire service pumps. Topics include types of pumps, engine and pump gauges, maintenance, unsafe pumping conditions, pressure relief devices, cooling systems, water supplies, drafting, and field hydraulics. Each student also has the opportunity to increase his or her pumping skills during simulated pumping conditions.

Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 1A: Front-Line Responder (2020) This course is intended for any member of the fire service. The Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 1A: Front-Line Responder (2020) course provides the student the opportunity for learning the basics of Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness by describing stress and listing stressors; identifying and describing the impacts of stress; describing factors and demonstrating practices for resilience; describing types, prevalence, and causes of cancer; describing exposure to carcinogenic chemicals; and describing and demonstrating minimizing exposure and risk to cancerous contaminants.

Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 2A: First-Level Supervisor (2020) Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 2A: First-Level Supervisor (2020) is a 24-hour course intended to provide leadership-level information and best practices for cancer mitigation and behavioral health for the aspiring Company Officer and/or fire service leader.

This course is intended for the fire service member operating in a leadership capacity. The Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 2A: First-Level Supervisor (2020) course provides leadership-level information on and best practices for cancer awareness, including communicating risk about and minimizing and mitigating toxic exposure and risk; creating a supportive environment, overcoming barriers, and effecting change; and laws, regulations, standards, and policies. This course also provides leadership-level information on and best practices for behavioral health, including stressors on members and leaders; stress impacts; overcoming barriers to behavioral health and resiliency, creating a supportive environment, member engagement, and effecting change; support resources and how to access them; and documentation types and requirements.

Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 3A: Organizational Leader (2020) Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 3A: Organizational Leader (2020) is a 24-hour course intended to provide chief-officer-level information on the development of inclusive cancer prevention and behavioral health and wellness programs.

The Behavioral Health and Cancer Awareness 3A: Organizational Leader course provides chief-officer-level information on the science of cancer, the budgetary and policy impacts, implementing policies and procedures and overcoming challenges to mitigation and minimization of toxic exposure, and developing a cancer-prevention program. It also provides information on the prevalence of behavioral-health issues and the impacts of prevention, implementing policies and procedures and overcoming challenges to increase wellness, and developing a behavioral health and wellness program.

This new FSTEP curriculum has been developed based on the latest evidence-based research and industry best practices, and using several others references as supporting documents. Behavioral health and cancer awareness are emerging topics where significant resources, research, and attention is being dedicated to the study of the topics. To date, NFPA standards have not yet been developed, however, stakeholders are demanding information on these subjects be addressed with the intention of educating the workforce and simultaneously influencing policy and the standards-making process.

CA-219: Wildland Firefighting - Firing Operations (2018) This course provides information and develops skills required to perform and hold firing operations on wildland fires and prescribed burns. This course contains a mix of online and instructor-led training including live fire exercises. The students will be engaged in wildland firefighting and firing operations. Students are required to complete the online training portion of the course and  recourse quizzes prior to taking the instructor-led training.

Common Passenger Vehicle Recue Technician (2021) This course provides the knowledge and skills to prepare an emergency responder to extricate victim(s) from a common passenger vehicle in a safe and effective manner in accordance with AHJ policies and procedures. Topics include sizing up an incident; creating an incident action plan; establishing safety zones; mitigating hazards; stabilizing and creating access and egress openings for rescue from a vehicle resting on its wheels, side, and roof or in a multi-hazard configuration or environment; disentangling and removing victims; and terminating an incident. This course incorporates awareness, operations, and technician training based on NFPA 1006 (2021).

Confined Space Rescue Awareness (2022) This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the awareness level confined space rescue technician to support an operations- or technician-level incident including sizing up an incident, identifying and isolating hazards, initiating a search in areas immediately adjacent to a confined space, communicating with victims, and performing nonentry rescue. Incident Management of High Rise Fires (2016) This course provides knowledge, skills, and abilities required for those managing incidents occurring in large, multistory buildings. These incidents may present significant management, logistical, and safety challenges to emergency personnel. The size and complexity of the interior spaces; limited, sometimes arduous access; extended travel and response times; and the concentrated occupant load with egress challenges all contribute to the problems faced by emergency responders. Additionally, most high-rise structures are equipped with various environmental, fire protection, and life-safety systems that require support and control. Motion Picture/Television - Fire Safety Officer This course provides the student with a basic knowledge of film production fire safety, both on the studio lot and location filming. Open Water Rescuer ā€“ Basic (2014) This course provides detailed information, and the skills training required, to improve an individualā€™s level of comfort and confidence for safely and proficiently performing contact rescues in static and surf water conditions. Safety is strongly emphasized throughout the class. Risk management is reinforced during every skill to establish your level of comfort in the water and to identify and overcome your limitations. The emphasis on risk management helps you determine if your actions meet your agencies SOPS/SOGS in the determination of a rescue being a ā€œoffensiveā€ or ā€œdefensiveā€ operation. Swimming, stroke technique and body positioning in the water are covered. ā€œIn waterā€ skills for students include how to read and understand water flow, reading and understanding surf, contact rescues using rescue buoy devices and boards, dealing with combatant victims, performing self-rescues, and rescues of multiple victims both conscious and unconscious.
